Ceramics during COVID-19
Although the prep to make this studio happen started in fall of 2019, our first year in business has been under the cloud of COVID-19. Although it has been a struggle - closing down after only being officially open for 2 months, the limit on persons in the studio, mandatory masks and social distancing, having to almost cancel classes again because of the tourist spike, in addition to lack of sales, we seemed to have found a new normal and you the community has responded in such a positive way, by coming by and actually buying in person, taking classes again, and just checking in on us as a new member of the Riverland Terrace community.
As an artist first and new owner of a business in Charleston, this has been a wild ride, but from the bottom of my heart, I want to thank everyone who has helped us get thru this time. (My husband, word of mouth, Lowcountry Local First, the South Carolina Arts Commission, SBA and our fabulous members!) I know we are still not out of the woods, but I think we can see some sunshine in our future in Charleston. Now if we could get it to stop raining! Glad to be able to write about what we have going on! Myra
